Hi, kids ... 2005 was exhausting ...

bullet I spent most the year awaiting resolution of my breach of contract lawsuit against Gutter Press. At last, on Decemer 19, 2005, I was awarded my full claim, plus court costs and interest. Technically, we can say that I won ... but, quite honestly, it feels like a rather hollow victory, given all the potential that has been lost ... Sam Hiyate surrendered the remaining copies of Karnival and I imagine I'll begin donating them to libraries, etc. I take that to be his apology for how I was treated, and I imagine this is all I'll ever receive: my court judgment remains unpaid to date.
bullet The Wicked People project is coming along nicely. Cayle Chernin/Cayle Film and I presented a reading of The Circle Eternal in September. Visit Projects - Film for details. Leslie Ann Coles came onboard in October, and suggested we retool the work as the pilot for our television series. Thus, we have done that, and completed the bible for Michael Mortensen's Wicked People ~ The Series, for which we are currently seeking funding and broadcasters.

As well:
bullet An ultra-condensed version of Tea with Mother is in production.
bullet This Spring, Cayle and I will produce Wicked Angel, a music/dance/drama video starring Toronto singing sensation Serafin. Visit him online at www.serafin.ca.
bullet Several other Wicked People projects are underway. Visit www.wickedpeople.ca for details of the above-noted projects and more.
bullet My second feature screenplay The Has-Been (a comedy) is now making the rounds.
bullet Hauntings continue, and I am currently writing a non-fiction book about these experiences. Click here for "ghost" photographs.

Have fun, kids! And never let them get you down!

-- the indomitable Michael Mortensen
